Objective
Assist a development team on a tough project (a big commercial trucking and vehicle repair and parts management system) where an existing product manager was drowning and needed assistance from a product management perspective.
What we did
The product was nearing the end of development and the client was getting frustrated with certain aspects of the project.
- A monetisation approach needed to be created
- The full context of the system needed to be understood so that I could take over as the defacto product manager of the platform.
- Features needed to be tested and accepted into production
- Unpacking of features in the backlog
- Prioritisation of the feature backlog and roadmap
- Understanding what the team should be focusing on now vs later
And... How Did We Do It?
Tech Stack: Jira, Figma, Notion, Pre-production proprietary software
We followed a full agile development approach with multiple client meetings per week. The client preferred receiving a lot of documentation, so a paper trail was needed for any feature change, and everything was documented in Jira.
Results
As the project came to an end, the client decided to decrease the team needed to operate the product moving forward and the contract came to an end.
